Multiplicity of actions Numerous and unnecessary attempts to litigate the same issue. Nolo contendere A Latin phrase meaning, "I will not contest it." A plea in a criminal case which does not require the defendant to admit guilt, but the defendant does not contest the facts on which the charge is based. Some judges refuse to accept such pleas in criminal cases. Continuance A court order postponing proceedings. Quid pro quo To overthrow; vacate; to annul or void a summons, indictment, bindover order or subpoena. Sealing The fee, which the client pays when he/she retains an attorney. Judgment The official decision of a court disposing of a case. Injunction A court order forbidding or requiring a certain action. Et al An abbreviation of et alii, meaning "and others," ordinarily used in lieu of listing all names of persons involved in a proceeding.
